Thomas is a tank engine that works on both The Island of Sodor and the Medvigy Branch Line.
Personality[]
Thomas is described as being a cheeky engine. He often gets into scrapes, usually by being over-eager to do things best left to bigger and more sensible engines. But clouds never last long in Thomas' life and he is soon bustling about again, playing his part in the yard and on either his Transportainian or his Sudrian Branch Line, both of which he is extremely proud of.
He loves teasing the others, especially the bigger engines, such as Gordon and on occasion brags about his superiority, but is always brought down to earth in due course by anyone willing to correct him, especially Sir Topham Hatt and his two coaches, Annie and Clarabel. If Thomas has any major character flaws, it's that he is forgetful, impatient, or occasionally rude to a new face (mainly when they try to steer him down the right track). However, he is also cheerful, optimistic, idealistic, altruistic, kind-hearted, supportive and helpful.
Basis[]
Thomas is based on an LBSCR E2 Class, more specifically the version with the extended side tanks, these tank engines were built at Brighton Works between 1913-1916 to replace the E1 Class.
They were used for shunting duties and short-distance goods trains in London and on the south coast, and last worked at Southampton Docks. None were preserved.
Bluebell, Jonathan, Jasper, and Tony are other members of this class.
Livery[]
Thomas is painted in NWR bright blue with red lining. His number is painted on the sides of his tanks in yellow with red lining and the lining around his cab windows is yellow.
